Technical Architecture & Zero-Knowledge Execution
How WCompress leverages V8 WebAssembly sandboxing, HTML5 Canvas 2D quantization, and browser-isolated memory pipelines to eliminate server uploads, ensure zero cloud data retention, and achieve instant execution.
0 Bytes Egress
No server compute, no database writes, and no file uploads. Everything runs locally in browser RAM.
WASM & Canvas 2D
Dedicated WebAssembly threads and OffscreenCanvas workers achieve native C/C++ compression speeds.
Target-KB Convergence
Mathematical binary search ($O(\log N)$) solves quantization parameters to hit strict file size limits.
01.The Fundamental Flaw of Legacy Cloud Compressors
Conventional file compression web apps operate on a legacy client-server paradigm. When a user wishes to compress a photo, video, or PDF document, the file is transmitted over the internet to a centralized server or cloud bucket (AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Cloudflare R2). The server executes a compression binary, writes the file to disk, and sends a temporary download URL back to the client.
This traditional model introduces severe vulnerabilities:
- [RISK]Confidential data (passports, financial PDFs, ID scans) exposed in transit & at rest.
- [RISK]Bandwidth latency: Uploading large 500MB videos creates prolonged bottlenecks.
- [RISK]Server hosting costs force arbitrary limits, daily paywalls, and lossy watermarks.
02.The V8 WebAssembly Sandboxing Model
WCompress replaces remote cloud compute with modern browser virtualization. By compiling high-performance compression codecs (FFmpeg, libx264, libjpeg-turbo, libwebp) into WebAssembly bytecode, execution occurs directly inside the browser’s V8 / JavaScriptCore engine.
Because raw file bytes are allocated into volatile ArrayBuffer structures, closing the tab or clearing the queue immediately triggers browser garbage collection, purging all residual bits from RAM with zero residue.
03.Target-KB Binary Search Engine Mechanics
Government portals, visa processors, and ATS job boards enforce rigid maximum file size limits (e.g., "must be strictly under 50 KB"). Trial-and-error slider adjustments waste time and often degrade visual quality excessively.
WCompress implements a mathematical binary search algorithm over the non-linear quality curve:
In cases where even the minimum quality setting exceeds the target size, the algorithm dynamically applies proportional downsampling (scale = sqrt(targetBytes / currentBytes) * 0.92) to ensure guaranteed compliance with zero user friction.
